Mercy Rolla to Hold Free Mammogram Screenings Thanks to Generous Donation

ROLLA, Mo. (April 10, 2024) Thanks to a $5,000 donation from Cancer Gala & Co, Mercy Clinic Rolla is holding a free mammogram screening event Thursday, April 25, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This is the first time Mercy Clinic Rolla has held free mammograms for uninsured or underinsured patients. Funding for the event comes from Cancer Gala & Co, which donated to Mercy Health Foundation.
The Cancer Gala Board is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) established in 2021 that supports the individual needs of patients and medical facilities in the Rolla community. All proceeds raised by the organization go to local patients and local causes.
“This special day is making a direct impact on the health of patients in the Rolla community,” said Karen Simpson-Neasby, executive director of Mercy Health Foundation Lebanon/Rolla and Mountain View. “This is an opportunity to ensure that those who need care – regardless of their ability to pay – get access to the very best technology. On behalf of Mercy Health Foundation, we’re honored to receive this generous donation from Cancer Gala & Co. Mammograms save lives.”
For decades, mammograms have been a reliable tool for detecting breast cancer, and last year, the American Hospital Association lowered the recommended age individuals begin getting annual mammograms to 40.
Patients who attend the free walk-in screening event on April 25 only need to bring a photo ID. Funds donated by Cancer Gala & Co will cover patient costs for the mammogram.
“For 38 years, Cancer Gala & Co has worked hard to raise funds and awareness around cancer care,” said Carolyn Buschjost, who served as the previous board chair of Cancer Gala & Co. “Breast cancer impacts every family. One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection provides the best treatment option and survival rate. We are blessed to bring this free screening mammogram event to Mercy Rolla.”

Appointments are not required, and patients are encouraged to park at the back of Mercy Clinic Rolla located at 1605 Martin Springs Drive and look for a Mercy team member to guide them through the registration process. For more information, call Mercy Clinic Rolla at 573-458-6474.
